When one Tandoori Chicken lost to another

I am a big fan of tandoori chicken and I regret not having Shiraz’s variant before. What was I thinking all this while? It happens when you become loyal to one brand and then think the world ends there. It’s my amateur loyalty towards a well-known Mughlai brand, that is to be blamed. I ate it, liked it and secured it a favourite label and then forgot about exploring any new destination to change my perception.

Anyways, enough of ranting.

An impromptu plan landed me at Shiraz’s Park Street outlet and I gave in to my hearts craving for Tandoori Chicken. It had been a while now and though chicken tikka and pyare kebabs featured on the plate often, the tandoori eluded me. It was time to pig out on my favourite chicken preparation which satiesfies my cravings more than a loaded pizza.

To be honest, I was a tad disappointed when I noticed the chicken missing its saffron profile. The presentation was good with veggies, pudina chutney and kachumbar accompanying the hot piece of chicken with elaborate burnt edges. The oil/ghee was still sizzling when we decided to dig in. One bite and the juices permeated all over the tastebuds and washed away the previous ‘favourite space’ and claimed the top spot instantly. This one differed in its flavour. It did not hit just one spot but all the right spots, despite being non-spicy. We had never eaten with so much dedication, minding our business and promising to be back for another round.
